Our Head Coach is David Maxwell. In addition, we have several other coaches and assistant coaches. All have spent many years swimming before progressing onto coaching and have a desire to pass on their love of the sport to the next generation of young swimmers.

David Maxwell

As Head Coach, David oversees all aspects of coaching within the club but primarily coaches Performance and Competitive squads. He has many years swimming experience and clearly has a passion for the sport, which he is keen to pass on to the swimmers he coaches. In his swimming career, David represented England at home nations internationals and was selected to the British Swimming Development Programme. He won a bronze medal in 400m IM at the British Youth Championships in 2012 (and also competed alongside Adam Peaty and Ross Murdoch in the 200m Breaststroke final)!

David is a Level 2 qualified Coach and Aquatics Teacher and has spent time shadowing top coaches in the US, as well as learning from coaches in England and Australia. He has also managed Learn-to-swim programmes, including running our Jorvik Swim Academy.
