We aim to be the best

Welcome to Team Jorvik.  We are a small and friendly club in York, which aims to produce swimmers competitive at Yorkshire and NER level. We do this by providing the necessary facilities, help and coaching in the pool and on land. The squad has a friendly but focused atmosphere - we take the training seriously but we don't take ourselves seriously!

Please take a look around and don't hesitate to get in touch if you have any questions.

  • Halifax team gala Along with 4 other teams, we were invited by Halifax Swimming Club to compete in a fun relay gala for the George Barraclough Memorial Bowl.  Despite not having a full squad, meaning that most swimmers had to race in age groups above their own, we finished in 3rd place overall, winning a plaque and a box of chocolates!  Most importantly, everyone had fun and showed fantastic team spirit, cheering each other on and embracing the challenge of swimming up.  Coaches and spectators alike provided very vocal support too.  Everyone went home exhausted but happy at the end of the evening!

  • North East Region Age Group (SC) Championships On 28th/29th October, our two 13 year old boys, Joe Callin and Aidan Fothergill, travelled to Sunderland for another excellent weekend of swimming.  Joe had qualified for 11 events altogether but chose to enter just 5, achieving PBs and top 10 finishes in 4 of these: 100m Free (4th), 400m IM (10th), 400m Free (8th) and 50m Free (7th).  Aidan continued his great form from last weekend, swimming almost identical times to the previous week in 50m and 100m Breaststroke to win Gold and Bronze medals respectively, then adding another Bronze in 200m Breaststroke with a 12 second PB, and finishing his NER campaign with a further brilliant PB in 100m IM to finish in 8th place.  Great stuff ...
