The Committee are delighted to announce that we have appointed David Maxwell as the new Head Coach for Team Jorvik.

David has a fantastic record as a swimmer himself, having competed in National Championships (winning a Bronze medal for his favoured event, 400m IM) as well as representing England in international competitions.  He is a Level 2 Qualified Coach and has most recently coached the University of Leeds swim squad, as well as teaching in local learn-to-swim schemes.  He is passionate about all aspects of swimming and understands the Team Jorvik ethos of ensuring all our members enjoy their swimming and giving all swimmers the chance to achieve their maximum potential.

David replaces Jon Bearsdley, who took over the Head Coach role from one of the founder members of Team Jorvik.  Under Jon's guidance the club has grown and grown, with increasing success at all meets including the Yorkshire and NER competitions.  For the past year his work has also included helping young swimmers with their early skills through the Jorvik Swim Academy.  The committee would sincerely like to thank Jon for all his hard work and commitment to the club and its swimmers over the last 3 years. We wish him all the best in his future endeavours.

We are looking forward to seeing Team Jorvik and the Academy continue to develop and thrive under the coaching and teaching guidance of David, alongside Helen Philips and all the regular coaches and teachers.
