Team Jorvik won a total of 21 “A grade” medals and 18 “B grade” medals from just 101 swims at Harrogate DSC’s annual Spa Town meet. 80 best times were recorded by the swimmers. The team’s improvement was evident in the 200m freestyle and backstroke across the board.

Maximus Mawle entered 3 events and won medals in all 3 with PBs, with a nice swim in the 200m freestyle. Heidi Fothergill, competing in her first gala raced a huge 200m backstroke PB and gained a PB in the 50m freestyle. She was rewarded with a 2nd place medal.

Brother Aidan Fothergill competed in 4 events and left with 4 PBs and a medal, with big PBs in the 100m breaststroke, freestyle, and 50m butterfly. Newcomer Joe Callin competed in 5 events and left with 4 PBs with a top swim in the 100m backstroke. Fay Clark competed in 10 events and left with 7 PBs. A first-time DQ in the 200m backstroke masked an otherwise very impressive swim and time. Imogen Wood left with 5 PBs from 6 swims, including PBs in 100m freestyle and backstroke.

Amy Clark competed in 11 events and left with 10 PBs, and after a tough weekend gained new PBs in every stroke and distance. Georgia Kemp raced 4 events and and left with 3 medals and two PBs, one from her PB in the 100m breaststroke. Jess Buckton left with 3 PBs from 4 entries and won 2 medals in the freestyle at 100 and 200m distances. Joan Clayton left with 2 medals and 1 PB from a great 100m backstroke, from 11 swims. Sam Enticknap entered 6 events and gained 5 PBs and 2 medals, with a strong finish in the 200 IM and freestyle.

Rhiannon Wood set new club records in the 200m freestyle, 50m butterfly, 100m butterfly and the 100m backstroke. Entering 8 events, Wood left with 6 PBs and 4 medals and 3 new Yorkshire qualifying times. Esme Littlewood raced 4 events and left with 4 PBs and 2 “A grade” medals and club records in the girls 50m & 200m backstroke. Tom Watkins-Hargan entered 4 events and left with 4 “A grade” medals and a club record in the 50m freestyle and a big PB in the 100m backstroke. Joe Senior entered 10 events and left with 9 PBs and 6 medals, bouncing back from a disappointing 100m breaststroke to set an 8 second 200 IM PB, in almost directly back to back races. Zak Moorcroft swum 9 events and left with 7 PBs, 6 “A grade” medals, 5 club records and a speeding ticket (in 50m breaststroke).

Moorcroft also then competed at the ASA NER Youth/Senior championships in Sunderland in 5 events (50, 100, 200m backstroke, 50 & 100m breaststroke), setting a new PB in the 100m LC breaststroke. Team Jorvik coach Jon Beardsley also returned to competition in the 50m freestyle and butterfly, setting a new PB in the latter.
